Presentation Kamina Romeo Questions • I’m Romeo Kamina, I am 14 years old, I come from Versonnex and I like playing football, judo and basketball. I am practising this year football and judo. • This week of stage was very interesting, I’ve learn so many things and I hope I could come back in the future. • The visit to CMS and the masterclass was my favourite parts of this week • I didn’t like the visit to SM18 and Wednesday afternoon Karl explained to us how to build a detector. I didn’t like it because it was a bit boring and it was hard to follow. • In 10 years I think I’m going to a scientific university and I hope one day I could work here or NASA something like that because I am very interested in physics or astronomy. CMS • When we arrived the first day, we went to visit the experiment CMS. In the first I thought we was just to study some things in the accelerator but then we actually went to see the accelerator. I was impressed that we went there and the size of it, we saw the different parts and there roles in accelerator. CMS • The CMS is an experiment based near Cessy and here how it works. • billions of protons are launched in the 27 km accelerator ring, collided one each other left behind us muons electrons and W,Z particles. This is a collision between two protons and we can see all the particles spread around. Masterclass • Tuesday morning we went to a computer room to see what happen when the protons are in collision. We used a software to see the collision and we had to identify all the particles that were thrown into the accelerator when there was a collision. It was fun and really interesting to see all the different species of electrons that was in the protons. This was the software that we used to see the particles Gas Systems • Tuesday afternoon we went to see Patrick and we started to do weld electrics circuits even that the name of the programme is gas systems. I learn to weld then at the end we had a little moment of fun, we ate cakes and we started to inflate balloons with helium. It was really fun and I enjoyed a lot doing all of this things. Here’s a picture of the electrical circuit that we build. •THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION
