What was death before death
became death
DEATH... WHY?
The death of someone inevitably causes a lot of questions
With this teaching we want to bring Biblical perspectives
and answers to some of these questions
FIRST OF ALL…
GOD IS A GOD OF LIFE, HE HAS NO PLEASURE IN DEATH
Eze 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord God.
"Therefore turn and live!
Joh 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want
to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own
resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD…
Gen 2:9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to
the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Gen 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the
garden you may freely eat;
:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day
that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Important…
God never gave man a choice to eat of the tree of knowledge of
good and evil. He specifically commanded them not to eat thereof,
with a clear warning of what would happen the day they do eat of it …
death!
WHY THEN WOULD GOD PLANT SUCH A TREE IN HE GARDEN IF
MAN WAS NOT ALLOWED TO EAT OF IT ?
• There’s no greater love, relationship or unity as where two persons freely
submit their will and desires to one another
• In order to give man a free will so that man could freely submit their will to God’s will,
God had to provide an alternative… only one alternative amongst all the trees
• God is life, the alternative to Him is death…therefore the tree of death. Anything
outside the plan of God is death.
• Example of drinks on a tray
WHAT WAS DEATH BEFORE DEATH BECAME DEATH?
In answering this question, we need to consider the
following:
• God as Creator made man in His image and likeness, to fill the earth
with His glory (view, judgement, opinion) (Gen 1:26-28)
• He created us to be partakers of His divine nature (2Pet 1:4 by which
have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that
through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having
escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.)
• The tree of knowledge would bring a different “glory” into the earth…
a different view, judgement and opinion…that of man, now without the
Spirit of God, no longer partakers of His divine nature. Death needed to
bring an end to this situation.
THE ANSWER…
1. Death was the mercy of God towards man
2. Death would act as the cure in preventing God’s creation plan of going down in
the earth
3. Death became the mercy of God towards man, His created beings, to prevent us
from living forever in this fallen state and world… a world that would now be in
the mercy of a fallen people, a people without the Spirit of God, without His image
and likeness living for their own glory
Disobedience to God’s command brought a very bad experience into the earth.
Man started to live by the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The
inventions and discoveries of man brought pain and suffering into this world…
eventually…death.

The solution to this…
God redeemed man from this situation by making it possible to man to become
part of a new creation, a spiritual one, an eternal one… the Christ plan. (not Heaven)
Col 1:27 … Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Christ, the hope for the restored
view, judgement and opinion of God)
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the
law of sin and death.
…the “Spirit life law” of God through the 2nd Adam specie, Jesus Christ, has set man free
from law of “sin and death” that came from the 1st Adam specie. As it was in the case of
the first creation, again in submitting our free will to God’s will, we can now
“lawfully” become part of this new creation.
2Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One
died for all, then all died;
(:15) and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves,
but for Him who died for them and rose again.
(:16) Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even
though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no
longer.
(:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new.
(:18) Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus
Christ
This plan also starts with a command…. “eat of the tree of life”
Rom 16:25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the
preaching of Jesus Christ (the new Adam specie) according to the revelation of the
mystery kept secret since the world began (the Christ seed)
Rom 16:26 but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures has been
made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for
obedience to the faith-Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right
to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
The more we renew our minds in replacing the knowledge of good and evil, the view,
judgement and opinion of man with the one knowledge of the glory of God, His view, His
Judgement and His opinion, the more we grow into maturity in this new creation plan.
1Pet 1:23 having been born again, (into the new creation plan) not of corruptible seed
(1st Adam) but incorruptible (2nd Adam), through the word (logos/ mind) of God which
lives and abides forever
…if this seed germinates, it becomes a tree of life to the world out there
Prov 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he
who wins souls is wise.
The fruit of the righteous (one who is in the state as he ought to be, restored) is a
tree of life, and the fruit of this tree, the righteous way of living, will win souls,
bringing the mind of man to correction, in submission to the mind of Christ. This
is the wisdom of God… the whole earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD
A new creature in a new creation, a Spirit plan
Rev 3:21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also
overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
:22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
In maturing to sons of God through the renewal of our minds to the knowledge of His
glory we overcome this world, (the worldly/ natural/ fallen glory) and according to
Eph 2:6 we are seated with Christ in heavenly places, (on the throne of our Father)
Rev 4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One
sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance;
and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.
(Rev 21:2) Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven
from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
(Rev 21:3) And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will
be with them and be their God.
(Rev 21:4) And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more
death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have
passed away."
(Rev 21:5) Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new.“ (new
knowledge) And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
(Rev 21:6) And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning
and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to
him who thirsts.
[(Joh 4:13) Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water (natural)
will thirst again, (:14) but whoever drinks of the water (spiritual) that I shall give him
will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of
water springing up into everlasting life.“]
(Rev 21:9) Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the
seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you
the bride, the Lamb's wife."
(Rev 21:10) And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and
showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
(Rev 21:11) having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a
jasper stone, clear as crystal.
(Rev 21:18) The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like
clear glass.
(Rev 21:19) The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of
precious stones:…
(Rev 21:21) The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one
pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
(Rev 21:22) But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its
temple.
(Rev 21:23) The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory
of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
(Rev 22:1) And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding
from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
(Rev 22:2) In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of
life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the
tree were for the healing of the nations.
(Rev 22:3) And there shall be no more curse (through 1st Adam), but the throne of God
and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
(Rev 22:4) They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
1Co 15:12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do
some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
1Co 15:13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen.
1Co 15:14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also
empty.
1Co 15:15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of
God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise.
1Co 15:16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.
1Co 15:17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!
1Co 15:18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
1Co 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
1Co 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those
who have fallen asleep.
1Co 15:21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

1Co 15:26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
1Co 15:27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things
are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted.
1Co 15:28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will
also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be
all.
