Renewable Ocean Energy The World View World Energy Renewable Energy Europe • The Renewable Energy Directive, 20% Renewables target for Europe by 2020. UN Energy Goals By 2030 • Ensure universal access to affordable, reliable energy services • Increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix • Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency • Enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy and energy efficiency • Expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries UN Paris Climate Summit • Set the goal of limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius (°C) compared to pre-industrial levels before 2100. • Some scientists calculate that zero emissions will need to be reached between 2030 to 2050 in order to achieved the 2 degrees Celsius (°C) target. • Between April 2016-April 2017 all countries must implement laws which enable these goals to be met and must sign the Paris agreement. • At present the largest changes need to occur in China and the USA UN Paris Climate Summit • The participating 195 countries agreed, by consensus, to the final global pact. • This is not set in stone until the top 55 countries, who produce approximately 51% of the earths emission sign.
