GEOMETRY REVIEW – PARALLEL LINES
Transversal – A line that intersects two or more other lines
Corresponding Angles – Two angles occupying corresponding positions when lines
are intersected by a transversal. If the lines are parallel,
then corresponding angles are equal.
Alternate Interior Angles – Two angles lying between two lines on opposite sides
of a transversal. If the lines are parallel, then alternate
interior angles are equal.
In the diagram above, the following angles are equal corresponding angles:

Two parallel lines and a transversal create C-patterns (forward and backward).
The angles in this C-pattern are not equal, but supplementary, that is, they add to
180o. In the diagram above, the following angles are supplementary:
