Wildlife Agencies
Government Organizations that Work
for Wildlife
Wildlife Agencies
• Who deals with managing wildlife in the
United States?
Wildlife Agencies
• The management of wildlife in the United
States is often complicated
• Laws are generally created at a federal level
and then implemented by a variety of federal
and state government agencies
– Ecosystems and wildlife habitats are not defined
by state boundaries, so states often work with
neighboring states on management or recovery
plans, usually under Federal guidance
Wildlife Agencies
As you can see,
wildlife populations
do not stay within
state lines – it
sometimes takes
multiple states to
manage a single
species.
