Krishna
Introduction
Krishna is believed to be the supreme deity who is worshiped in several traditions of Hinduism
in a range of different perspective. He is known as the eighth incarnation “avatar” of the lord
Vishnu and who is the only Lord Vishnu, who is one of the “trimuti” & the superior god of his
own right. Krishna is a major protagonist in the Bhagavad Gita with Arjuna which is also
referred to as song of God, which portrays the conversation between Krishna and royal prince
Arjuna during the great war of Kureksetra, five centuries ago where Arjuna realizes that Krishna
is God thereafter comprehending his will and nature for him and for mankind. In modern India
Krishna is one of the main widely respected and most popular among all the Indian divinities.
Krishna is often depicted and described as a toddler eating butter, a little boy playing a flute like
in the Bhagavata Purana or as a senior giving guidance and direction like in the Bhagavad Gita.
These Krishnan’s stories emerge across a wide spectrum of Hindu theological and philosophical
traditions.
Krishna according to Bhagavad Gita is a lord whom to his devotees has been described as most
devoted lover. During the battle of the Mahabharata, Krishna became the charioteer of Arjuna
after accepting his request with gratification. As the emissary of the Pandavas, Lord Krishna
went to Hastinapura, with a soul mission of trying to prevent the war. Nevertheless, Duryodhana
getting directions from egocentric Sakuni, declined to end the cease fire and went ahead even to
try and imprison Lord Krishna at which point Lord Krishna Supreme Form was manifested. It’s
said that even Dhritarashtr, a blind man through the lord’s grace saw it. King’s Dhritarashtra

chief Duryodhana the powerful Pandavas. The battle line had been drawn, when Veda Vyasa
came to Dhritarashtra, and made a suggestion about him regaining his vision so as to see his
children slaughter each other at the battle field, to which he cunningly objected by telling him
that he had no desire to see his family slaughter each other, but would want to hear all the details
of the battle.
After 10 days of intense fighting between the Kauravas and Pandavas, at which point Bhishma
the warrior was ousted down from his chariot by Arjuna, Dhritarashtra was briefed on the
developing of the war by Sanjaya, but in anguish the King demanded full particulars of the past
10 days of war, beginning from the first day detailing all that had happened.

people by teaching Krishna’s science of consciousness in accordance to Bhagavad- gita together

Krishna Consciousness
Practices
Congregational members of International Society of Krishna Consciousness set the movement’s
teachings concerning Krishna consciousness into practice while living an ordinary work and
home life. They go to temples for congregational worship. The full members of this movement
reside in the temple and are required to lead ascetic and austere lifestyles in guidance by four
regulative principles; that they should not eat meat, eggs or fish, take no drugs or alcohol, not
partake in gambling and remain celibate apart for purpose of procreation within marriage.
The mantra shows devotion to gods Krishna and Rama and it is thought to bring about a superior
state of consciousness when it’s sung, chanted or meditated upon. It’s believed to be the most
efficient and effective way of self-purification. Krishnas’ are also recognized for their public
dancing and singing and distribution of materials which includes their magazines. International
Society of Krishna Consciousness is aggressively evangelistic, with the main objective of
spreading God-consciousness all over the world. Male Hare Krishna wears in saffron or white
robes and shaves their heads apart from topknot. Women on the other hand put on brightly
colored saris. The movement’s leaders are experts in a successive lineage that is drawn back to
Caitanya himself. The work of these experts is to pass on the teachings, with alterations to a
disciple who also in turn carries the line to others.

Conclusion
The teachings of Gita put emphasis on an individual cultivating an altitude of non-attachment or
detachment. It repeatedly recommends that a person should live in the world, just like water in a
lotus leaf.
Attachment is as a result of infatuation. It is the progeny of the quality of Rajas. It is born of
Sattwa. The latter is a divine attribute while the former is a demoniacal one. Attachment is born

of selfishness, ignorance and passion and bears death while detachment is wisdom and bears
freedom. The practice of detachment is a rigorous discipline and one might stumble like a kid
who is learning to walk and he has to rise up once more with a cheerful heart. Challenges should
be taken as stepping stones to success and not stumbling block.
