ROMAN LANGUAGES
Antoon Ivan Adél Piero Valerie
THE ORIGIN OF LATIN
Latin was spoken in Rome and Lazio from
the early first millennium
After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, for more than a
millennium, Latin influenced culture, science and international
relationship of the various local languages.
The most important customs of the Latin language nowadays are:
 Latin is the official language of the Vatican City
 the European Community and United States use as official motto Latin words
like : In varietate concordia (in the difference there is union) and E pluribus
unum (out of many, one!).
 In Switzerland to avoid the differences between the three official languages they
used to call them Confoederatio Helvetica
 Many gothic and black metal bands use to write in their lyrics some Latin words
