Serratus Anterior

 Origin – superior 8 or 9 ribs
 Insertion – vertebral border
and inferior angle of scapula.
 Function  abduction and rotates
scapula upwards.
 elevates ribs when
scapula stabilized.
Linea Alba

 A fibrous structure that runs down the midline of
the abdomen in humans and other vertebrates. In
humans, linea alba runs from the xiphoid process to
the pubic symphasis.
Lumbar Triangle

 Is formed by – posterior
border of external oblique,
superior border of iliac crest,
and lateral border of
latissimus dorsi.
Piriformis

 Origin – anterior surface of sacrum.
 Insertion – greater trochanter of femur
 Function - lateral rotation
Erector Spinea Muscle
Group

 Origin – spines of upper
lumbar and lower thoracic
vertebrae
 Insertion – spines of upper
Thoracic and cervical
vertebrae
 Function – extends vertebral
column, assists in bending
backward, sideways and with
rotation of spine.
