Scripture Text
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses
today against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing;
therefore choose life, that both you and
your descendents may live.”
Dt 30:19
(NKJV)
Freedom to choose
I have set before you life and death …
 Man is created as tri-partite being
“The LORD God formed the man from the
dust of the ground (body) and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life (spirit),
and the man became a living being
(soul).”
Gen 2:7 (NIV)

Freedom to choose
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the
gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction, and there are many who go in
by it. Because narrow is the gate and
difficult is the way which leads to life, and
there are few who find it.”
Mt 7:13-14 (NKJV)
Consequences of choice
That both you and your descendents may
live …
 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime
and harvest, cold and heat, summer and
winter, day and night will never cease.”
Gen 8:22
(NIV)

Consequences of choice


“But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the
LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you
out.”
Num 32:23 (NIV)
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that
you don't fall! No temptation has seized you except what
is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you
be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you
are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you
can stand up under it.”
1 Cor 10:12-13 (NIV)
Consequences of choice
“The highest heavens belong to the LORD,
but the earth he has given to man.”
Ps 115:16 (NIV)
 Our gracious, forgiving God
“Then he adds: Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.” Heb 10:17
(NIV)

Make wise choices


Choose life (and not death)
Obedience to God is the key
“If you fully obey the LORD your God and
carefully follow all his commands I give you
today, the LORD your God will set you high
above all the nations on earth. All these
blessings will come upon you and accompany
you if you obey the LORD your God…” Dt 28:1-2
Make wise choices

Choose to tithe & give your offerings
“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How
do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings. You are under a
curse -- the whole nation of you -- because you are
robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse,
that there may be food in my house. ‘Test me in this,’
says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open
the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent
pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your
fields will not cast their fruit,’ says the LORD Almighty.
‘Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will
be a delightful land,’ says the LORD Almighty.”
Mal 3:8-12 (NIV)
Choose not to be unequally yoked
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what
do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or
what fellowship can light have with darkness? What
harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does
a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What
agreement is there between the temple of God and
idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God
has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and
I will be their God, and they will be my people.’”
2 Cor 6:14-16 (NIV)
Choose to forgive
“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not
forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your
sins.”
Mt 6:14-15 (NIV)
“And his master was angry, and delivered him to the
torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So
My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you,
from his heart, does not forgive his brother his
trespasses.”
Mt 18:34-35 (NKJV)
Choose not to be enslaved by sin
“Everything is permissible for me -- but not
everything is beneficial. Everything is
permissible for me -- but I will not be mastered
by anything. Food for the stomach and the
stomach for food -- but God will destroy them
both. The body is not meant for sexual
immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the
body.”
1 Cor 6:12-13 (NIV)
