1. area of a triangle – A = ½ bh
2. obtuse triangle – triangle with one
obtuse angle
3. range of a function – the set of all
second coordinates (y) from the
ordered pairs in a relation
4. rate – the ratio of two measurements
having two different units of measure,
example, miles per gallon, miles per
hour
5. ratio – comparison of two numbers by
division
6. rational number – any number that
can be expressed in the form a/b,
where a and b are integers and b  0
7. proportion – an equation which states
that two ratios are equivalent
8. linear equation – an equation that can
be represented by a line on the
coordinate plane
9. midpoint – the point that divides a line
segment into two congruent line
segments
10. complementary angles – two angles
whose sum is 90 degrees
