Asian Arowana
Diet
 Feeds on any small
animal they can catch,
including small birds and
bats they catch in midair.

eats shrimp and other
small fish.

Habitat
 The Cross Back Golden Asian
Arowana originates in West
Malaysia.
 The Super Red Asian Arowana
originated in Indonesia
(Western Kalimantan
Province).
 The Red Tail Golden Asian
Arowana is found in Indonesia
(Pekan Baru).
 The Green Tail Asian Arowana
is usually found in Thailand,
Malaysia, Myanmar,
Indonesia, and Cambodia.
Reproduction
 They spend weeks to months courting, and when ready,
female will lay eggs on slow stream riverbeds and male will
fertilized them immediately.
 Fertilized eggs are them scooped up by the male Arowana and
the eggs are hatched in his mouth. Eggs will hatched in about
two months.
 The fry will then leave the father's mouth, initially for a brief
time.
 Father will signal the fries when there is sign of danger and
fries will swim back immediately for refuge. The fries will leave
the father when they are capable of surviving by themselves.
Facts
 They may be aggressive
 Are considered “living fossils”
 The Asian Arowana are also called Dragon fish, because
they look like dragons. It is believed that they are an
incarnation of the dragon itself.
 They bring good luck, deter evil, and keeps the family
together, while bringing happiness and health.
