Many students like to remember the process for
solving linear equations as:
any algebra expressions on each side
variable terms on one side and
constants on the other side
by the coefficient of the variable
Obj: To solve an equation of the form x + a = b
Question: Solve x + 2 = -9
Solution:
x + 2 = -9
x = -9 – 2
x = -11
Question: Solve x – 21 = -5
Solution:
x – 21 = -5
x = -5 + 21
x = 16
Obj: To solve an equation of the form ax = b
