Identifying Positive Incentives
• You will now work with a group to identify positive
incentives in 4 historical ads.
• Record your answers on the sheet provided.
Negative Economic Incentives
•Negative economic incentives are also used to
influence people’s choices and behavior.
•We will now work with the same group you did when
you identified positive incentives.
•You will work together to identify the negative
economic influences shown on the sheet as well as
how they are likely to influence a persons behavior.
Task

of a scenario
• Read the scenario and
identify the economic
incentives described in the
scenario.
• Determine if they are
positive or negative and
how they influenced Mr.
Jones’ behavior.
• Use a highlighter as you
read to highlight

Project – “ Incentives Search”
• You will now be gathering information about incentives
from newspapers, observations in the community,
interviews with people, and other resources.
• Search the resources for examples of economic incentives
and cut them out.
• Also look for incentives in the community, such as signs
in the window, coupon offers, offers of free items, etc.
• Record examples of the incentives you find on the
“Incentives Chart”

• Cut out and glue word card 24 in your social Studies
folders on lined paper. 
• When you have finished your cutting and gluing, may
write the definitions on a SEPARATE lined sheet of
paper.
• Hold on to your word cards and definitions until your
next vocabulary quiz.
