Association
Definition
Association is a way of shortening the file by pointing to values already present in the
Business Message. Every entity can have association, but it is required for the entities that
are referenced.

A complex structure that is formed of one or more BDE, FBDE, QFBDE, BP, Choice or
Reference.
Business Message
Part of the Message that is formed according to RosettaNet rules and conveys a particular
business meaning that Trading Partners fully understand. Usually this part of the message
will be encrypted.
BusinessProperty
A special business meaning of the entity use in a particular location.
Cardinality
A means of showing how many of the entity must/can appear in the message.
Choice
Is used in cases when either one of two sets of values is required in the Business
Message.
Constraints
A rule, usually as unformatted text, that specifies how the entities are related.
Definition
A text explanation about the general meaning/use of an entity.
Dictionary
The list of all entities used in the message guideline with their definitions.
Entity
One of the different types of complex or simple structures used in Business Messages.

A standard value that an FBDE can take. Usually instances are grouped in lists of values

correctly deliver a Business Message. The Business Message is part of the message
itself.
Message guideline
A specification, that describes the structure and contents of Business Messages or other
part of the Message that are to be exchanged between 2 or more parties.

The minimum length an (Q)FBDE must have in order to be valid.
