Why Is Medina Important To Muslims
As every Muslim knows that Medina is considered to be the modern city in the region of
western Saudi Arabia and it is capital of Al Medina Province. Firstly, we would like to
discuss the meaning of Medina. Well, the Arabic word Medina simply means City.
Before the beginning of Islam, Medina was known as Yathrib. It is considered to be
second important holiest city in Islam after the Mecca. We would like to mention that
Medina is the burial place of Islamic Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), that’s why Medina is
important to Muslims. In this informative article, we will discuss the importance and
significance of Medina and its history before and after Islam.
Medina Is The Holy City Of Muslims:
Now the question is that why Medina is the holy city of Muslims? Well, we would like to
mention again as mentioned above that Medina is the second holiest city in Islam. The
first and oldest mosque named as Masjid Al Quba also located in this city. One of the
major reasons why Medina important to Muslims, this is the holy city of Muslims in the
whole world because it is the burial place of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W). Many others
“Sahaba Ikram” are also buried in this Holy city. This is the only place where Prophet
Mohammad (S.A.W) attracted his followers. Moreover, oldest mosque Masjid-e-Nabawi
also built in this city. Its beautiful minarets and domes completely dominate the skyline
of this holy city.
Roza E Rasool Medina:
For our readers, we want to mention that Masjid e Nabvi is also known as Roza E
Rasool. We would like to mention that Roza E Rasool is located in Medina. It is famous
as the second holy mosque in the whole world. Whenever Muslims visit, the first thing
they visit to see this mosque. It has ten tall minarets reaching high into the sky. The
shape of Roza E Rasool is rectangle which can be seen in below gallery of 20 beautiful

was renovated in 1860 AD during the rule period of Sultaan Abd Al Majeed.
History of Medina before Islam:
According to the history of Medina before Islam, its name was Yathrib, dates to 6 th
century BC. In early days of Yathrib, three Jews tribes were resided here mostly
prominent named Banu Qaynuqa, Banu Qurayza and Banu Nadir. Later on Yemenis
came to this area and for the time being held their position strong. Jews tribes lost their
control on Yathrib till 5th century. Ultimately the Jews tribes have become the part of
past until the birth of Holy prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in 571 A.D. Holy prophet was
born in Mecca but in 622 he migrated to Medina and started his preaching of Islam for
10 years and established the first Islamic state in Medina. Actually this is first answered
of the question why is medina important to Muslims. Because Muslims consider the
Medina first Islamic state established by Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H)
Islamic History of Medina
Now for our readers, we would like to discuss the Islamic history of Medina. In the
period of 622, Medina became the main seat or place of Prophet Mohammad growing
movement of Islam after Hijra. During the period of 622, Prophet Mohammad was
invited to come and live in the city of Yathrib also known as Medina. Then in Medina,
he acted as a governor. In those special times, Medina was considered to be a divide
city. In those times, different religions were present and they were eternally quarrelling.
Then Prophet Mohammad brought peace and unity to Medina.
Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) invited all the people in Medina to follow new religion
Islam. We would like to mention that during the ten years, Medina formed the base from
which Prophet Mohammad invited people to Islam. After the establishment of Islamic
rule in Medina, this city also considered to be most important city of Islam. In 1942,
Medina has been in Ottoman hands for many centuries and then fell to Ibn Saud and
then empire became Saudi Arabic.
In the final conclusion, we can say that without any doubt Medina is the most important
and holy city for all the Muslims in the whole world. Medina is the spiritual city for
Muslims that’s why is Important to Muslims.
