Properties of Isosceles Triangles
An isosceles triangle has at least two equal sides. Notice that this
means that an equilateral triangle is a special isosceles triangle,
and therefore has all of the same properties of an isosceles
triangle (plus some extras).
1) The perpendicular height of an isosceles triangle
cuts the base into two equal pieces.
(AD = DC)
2) The perpendicular height of an isosceles triangle
cuts the upper angle into two equal angles.
(m∠ABD = m∠CBD)
3) The two angles opposite the equal sides are congruent.
(m∠BAC = m∠BCA)
