FREE ELECTRONIC BOOKS FOR
MATHCAD USERS
Eight Downloadable References Now Available for Students and
Professionals
Adept Scientific announces the availability of eight free electronic titles for users of Mathcad
technical calculation and documentation software. Available via download at
www.adeptscience.com, these titles extend Mathcad’s utility with industry-specific
content and functionality in areas such as electrical engineering, statistics, thermal analysis
and electromagnetics.
The eight electronic titles offer a variety of resources for Mathcad users, from
professional reference tools and college study aids to industry-specific techniques,
applications and solutions, and even special interest titles. Developed by MathSoft’s
in-house development team or well-known industry professionals, each title delivers
interactive content based on the Mathcad platform technology. Because users read the
books in Mathcad, all the computations are live and each book is fully interactive.

Mathcad worksheets. This free collection represents about one-third of all the Mathcad
electronic titles currently available. Users can purchase other titles through the Adept
Scientific WebStore at www.adeptstore.co.uk/.
“Offering this line-up of free Mathcad resources is part of the new MathSoft’s focus
on increasing its support and services for technical professionals and students
everywhere,” said Chris Randles, CEO of MathSoft Engineering & Education, Inc. This
is a recent management buy-out from the former parent company, which concentrates
resources and investment on developing the Mathcad product line into the future.
Randles added: “The depth and breadth of these offerings also showcases the
versatility of Mathcad as an application as well its power as a publishing and
collaboration platform.”
The eight electronic titles are available for free via download from
www.adeptscience.com. Each book can be previewed on the Web site with a
description of each title, a table of contents and a sample file. The titles are:
 Applied Statistics, which explains a variety of statistical concepts and contains
implementations of formulae for use by novice or professional statisticians.
 Astronomical Formulae, designed for anyone with an interest in quantitative
astronomy; it covers diverse areas such as spherical astronomy, cosmology, stars and
stellar systems.
 Building Thermal Analysis, which covers the field of heat transfer in building
design through theories and real-life applications.
 Materials and Energy Balances, which delivers lessons for explaining and applying
degree-of-freedom (DF) analysis and teaches how to simplify the solving of material
and energy balances for a flowsheet using DF analysis results.

 Personal Finance, which illustrates the basic concepts of personal finance and
includes tools for calculating the values of many common investment scenarios.
 Real World Maths with Mathcad, which presents a wide spectrum of real-world
applications of mathematics using Mathcad.
 Topics in Electrical Engineering, which includes common design calculations from
several different branches of electrical engineering, such as circuit analysis and digital
filter design.

Visual Electromagnetics for Mathcad, containing worksheets that provide
mini-tutorials and allow users to change problem variables using Mathcad to instantly
observe their new results.
With over 1.5 million users worldwide, Mathcad is the industry-standard
mathematics-based technical calculation solution for applying mathematics to
engineering and application-specific projects. Ideal for workgroup settings, Mathcad
unites and streamlines the design process by combining the power of advanced
calculation, computer-aided design and graphical analysis tools with the ability to
easily document, share and publish calculations in cooperation with colleagues. It also
includes VisSim LE from Visual Solutions which provides integrated modelling and
simulation functionality. New HTML/MathML support offers users new options for
collaboration by enabling them to post dynamic maths content on corporate intranets,
the Internet or via email worksheets to colleagues. IBM techexplorer Hypermedia
Browser is included in all Mathcad 2001 editions.
Mathcad also integrates with a variety of applications such as the Microsoft Office
suite, Visio®, AutoCAD®, SmartSketch®, Axum®, MATLAB®, Microsoft Access and
