WRITTEN JUSTIFICATION FOR OBJECTION OR SUPPORT:
PLEASE BE AS PRECISE AS POSSIBLE (CONTINUE ON SEPARATE A4 SHEET(S) IF NECESSARY)
We wish to comment on the 1.4 ha of land behind the Cambridge Water Company
headquarters in Fulbourn Road and adjoining the Peterhouse Technology Park being
released from the Green Belt for the construction of commercial premises. A limited
expansion of the Technology Park may be acceptable if careful attention is paid to its height,
massing and materials (including colour). The Consultation Documents state that the existing
Park buildings “cannot be seen from the higher ground to the south”. This is entirely wrong –
the large shiny roofs are clearly visible from the Shelford Road leading from Fulbourn.
Any development on this site must take into account and limit the potential loss of amenity
to the adjacent housing to the north, be no more than two storeys high (with no roof
mounted services), and be designed with a ‘green’ roof to minimise its visual impact from
the high ground as well as responding to environmental considerations.
