Smart Werkudara to ease blood donation
A blood donation is an activity that is often forgotten due dense bustle and daily activities. In
fact, blood donation becomes a scourge for some people who are afraid of hypodermic needle,
blood, etc. Whereas if we know, so many out there who need a drop of blood for a living. Thus,
blood donations are still become activities that are often overlooked and rarely being interested
in Indonesian society.
Blitar is one of cities in Indonesia which has residents with low blood donor interests. Low
interest of the public for blood donation is evidenced by still occurrence the lack of blood stock
annually, especially during Ramadhan. The low of Blitar urban community's interests for blood
donation are because of some reasons like fear, the dense of activities to do and health
condition which does not allow. These fears are commonly due to the lack of education about
the importance of blood donation, either for health or humanity.
Problems of shortage of blood stocks at City of Blitar's Indonesian Red Cross urged five
University of Brawijaya students headed by Hanun Ari Wulandari, with members consist of Ina
Nur Anisa, Mohammad Ramdan, Oddy South Lolo Toding and Ardina Fitri Haryono under the
supervision of Yusuf Hendrawan, S.TP., M.App.Life.Sc., PhD to create Smart Werkudara. The
innovation is in form of a web about blood donation information and education to ease public in
obtaining information about donor and also online blood donation registration.
Smart Werkudara is a web that is different from others. The site has three features, including
"Ayo Buat Janji"," Edukasi One Click" and "Aktif Donor". "Ayo Buat Janji" feature is a feature
which able to ease prospective donors to have online blood donation registration, thus can
fasten administration process when comes to Indonesian Red Cross. By making an online
appointment, the prospective donor may know the blood donation requirements and
procedures. In addition, they can know locations where Indonesian Red Cross do pick up the
ball action thus can have blood donation in the nearest venue to their location.
In addition to "Ayo Buat Janji" feature, there is also a feature of "Edukasi One Click". The
feature facilitates public to obtain information and education about blood donation. Lots of
information presented to give education to the community, such as about blood, blood facts,
inspiring story, blood stock update, etc. Community in Blitar city can also enjoy "Aktif Donor"
feature facility. This feature is aimed for donors to have blood donation every 75 days. By this
"aktif donor" feature, Indonesian Red Cross can have online donor data collection. By this
feature also, donors or donor recipients can contribute in filling inspiring story to urge people to
have blood donation. Various Smart Werkudara features hopefully can help Indonesian Red
Cross of Blitar City to fulfill demand of blood bags and also minimizing the occurrence of blood
