Ends at 1st rib
On right – branch of brachicephalic trunk, On left, aorta

1. vertebral artery
2. thyrocervical trunk
i. inferior thyroid artery
ii. suprascapular artery
iii. transverse cervical
iv. ascending cervical – runs medial to phrenic nerve up on the
prevertebral fascia
3. internal mammary artery
i. usually passed over by the phrenic nerve (sometimes under)

i. superior intercostal artery
ii. deep cervical artery – anastamoses with occipital artery

Axillary artery




Divided by pectoralis minor
Starts at 1st rib, ends at teres major lower border
2nd part is clasped by 3 cords of brachial plexus
