It’s Time to Let Your Star Shine
Jody Emerson, IA Rep to NCBEA
In 2000 the North Central Business Education Association (NCBEA) published its first
“Technology Activities for Business Educators”, as a service to members and to provide
additional funds for NCBEA. The Publication was a success! To continue that success story
NCBEA published; “Technology Activities for Business Educators Plus!” in 2002; “Activities for
Student Success” in 2004; and “Creative Activities for YOU in YOUR Classroom” in 2006. The
publications have activities submitted by teachers from the eight states of NCBEA, as well as
NBEA Past-president Sharon Lund-O’Neil. All the activities are coordinated with the NBEA
National Standards for Business Education.
The current CD’s will be available at our Fall Convention in Des Moines. This publication has
72 classroom activities. Not only will you find activities for technology, but also good, old
fashioned, pen & pencil activities. All these activities are on a CD which enables you to open
files and modify as needed for your classroom. The cost is $5.00 each. If you will not be able to
attend the Fall Convention or can not wait until then, you can order a copy from Sharon
Fisher-Larson below.
At our NCBEA Board meeting, July 25, 2007, the Board voted to produce a fifth CD. So we are
again asking teachers from the eight state region to submit activities for this “REACH for the
STARS CD”. Many of you have developed successful activities that you use in the classroom.
We would like to share those with your fellow Business Educators. The categories include:
Accounting, Business Law, Career Development, Communication, Computation, Economics &
Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, International Business, and
Management & Marketing and will be correlated with the Third Edition of the NBEA National
Standards for Business Education. More submission information can be found elsewhere in
this newsletter. (I will have more information about submitting your activities at the Fall
Convention.)
If you wish to order the CD and have it sent to you, please send $6.75 for the CD. Make checks
payable to North Central Business Education Association. Send the form below to Sharon
Fisher-Larson, NCBEA CDs, 2710 N Wright Road, Janesville, WI 53546.
Limited CDs of the 2004 and 2002 publication are still available. If you would like these,
please include $6.75 for each additional CD.
Please send me the CDs checked at $6.75 each
