ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING LEARNING FOR BEGINNERS ABHITEJA VULAPU September 2009 Dissertation submitted in complete fulfilment for the degree of Master of Science in Information Technology Department of Computing Science and Mathematics University of Stirling Abstract The main aim of this electrical engineering leaning website is to encourage the beginners towards electrical engineering, to increase the research and development and increase opportunities in the electrical engineering field. This website contains the same layout and design for all pages to maintain simplicity and consistency. The home page contains a brief explanation of electrical engineering with a header. This header contains electrical engineering logo, links to history, upcoming technologies and electrical album. This home page contains news feeds. "About us" page contains information about administrator, subjects page contains electrical engineering subjects with basics, high quality images and animations. Community page contains a little information about community and a link to the electrical forum. In the electrical forum the user can post a topic, reply to an existing topic, search topics or users, see status of the user, members list with details, frequently asked questions, login form, user registration form and more. "Contact us" page contains a form which sends feedback directly to the administrator email. The photo album contains images of old or new inventions in electrical engineering and electrical power plants. The methodology used to design and implement the website went in a professional way. The design and structure ideas of the website came from the different websites and chosen requirements. The images and animations used in the website came from different websites, modified and implemented using flash and Photoshop. The xhtml code is implemented using Dreamweaver, the w3schools and some tutorials from the web. The php and mysql is implemented using book (php and mysql dummies), tutorials from the web and head first php and mysql book. All the technologies are separately tested and integrated in one. Finally the main achievement was to create a fully functional website. It was completed without any problem and used various technologies. The electrical engineering website is currently running as an independent website (not depend on any browser) and is maintained permanently.
