Chapter 3 Section 1: The Geosphere Performance Tasks
Create a teaching aid that helps a DMS 8th grade student learn about the
geosphere.
The teaching aid will include:
*The composition and structure of the Earth (geosphere through asthenosphere)
*Plate tectonics including the major plates *You can use 1 major plate diagram
from the internet.
*3 types of plate boundaries
*Mountain building
*Types of weathering and erosion.
*Volcanoes and Earthquakes:
-What they are
-Where they are located * You can use the same major plate diagram here
-What causes them
-What causes them
-Affects locally and globally.
You will create all visuals. Do not use pictures from the Internet, with the
exception of your 1 major plate diagram.
Due by the end of class Monday 10/27 for Periods 4 and 5.
Due by the end of class Friday 10/24 for Period 1.

Grading:
You will get two grades for this project. One grade for your final project and how well it
addresses each of the bulleted items above and a second individual grade based on the DHS
Collaboration Rubric.
