Mathematical Terms
(Geometry - Angles)
1. Acute angle – An angle whose measure is more than 0 degrees
and less than 90 degrees.
2. Acute triangle – A triangle whose largest angle measures less
than 90 degrees.
3. Angle – The opening that is formed when two lines, line
segments or rays intersect.
4. Degree – A unit for measuring angles.
5. Equilateral triangle – A triangle in which all sides are the same
length.
6. Geometry – A major branch of mathematics that deals with
shapes, sizes, and other properties of figures.
7. Isosceles triangle – A triangle with at least two sides of equal
length.
8. Obtuse triangle – A triangle whose largest angles measures
more than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees.
9. Right angle – An angle that forms a square corner and
measures 90 degrees. (Often marked with a small square)
10. Right triangle – A triangle whose largest angle measures 90
degrees.
11. Scalene triangle - A triangle with three sides of different
lengths.
12. Straight angle – An angle that measures 180 degrees and thus
forms a straight line.
Be prepared to match definitions and apply them in
mathematical problems.
