Goal:
My desire is to obtain the entry level position of Mechanical Engineer to the
benefit of your company name here.
Education:
University of Idaho
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Graduation: December 2004
G.P.A. 3.32/4.0
Humboldt State University
2 Semesters Fall ’03 – Spring ‘04
Environmental Engineering focus
Relevant Coursework: Engineering graphics, Mechanical Design Analysis, Computer
Aided Design Methods, Dynamic Modeling of Engineering Systems, Machine
component design, Mechanical Systems Design I, II
Engineering Design Work:
Senior Design.
 Designed, built, and tested an automated inspection system to reject defective
parts from a high-speed ink-jet printing line.
 Use of SolidWorks to design and model system components prior to fabrication.
 Corroboration with a 3-person team to achieve product meeting specific customer
requests.
Solar Seismic Rickshaw.
 Devised a vehicle to transport and power seismographs and computers for the
collection of seismic data in the Alvord Desert.
 Done at the request of CGISS Research Group (Center for Geophysical
Investigation of the Shallow Subsurface)
 Sizing and wiring of solar set-up, weight issues, and user functionality were all
addressed in design.
 Final design withstood the rigors of the field after 2 weeks of heavy use.
Rocket Design Project.
 Designed a rocket to carry water to a specified height for a semester long class
competition. 3-person team.
 Formulated an economic analysis based on, design constraints, and available
resource allocation.
 Created Solid model of final prototype, and performance was optimized using
mathematical analysis software.

CAD Skills and Fabrication Work:
Solidworks Experience.
 Solidworks techniques including methods of part creation, parting together
assemblies, creating machinist ready drawings from solid models.
 Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Cosmos including thermal, mechanical
analysis subject to specified constraints.
Shop Skills & Experience.
 Learned concise machine drawing organization, streamlined manufacturing
techniques, and considerations involved with high volume parts production in a
recent Lean Manufacturing course.
 Experience using Manual and CNC Mills and Lathes. Work includes machining
an aluminum block puzzle, bearing bracket uprights, and parts for our senior
design project.
 CAM modeling software used to determine part viability prior to fabrication.
Unique Qualifications:




Understand field equipment design issues through 2 summers of using and
troubleshooting geophysical equipment including mechanical and electrical
problems.
Experience collecting data using GPS receivers and total stations.
Exposure to multiple engineering disciplines including geological, environmental,
and mechanical engineering. Provides broad based insight into tool design criteria
involved with exploration development.
High travel flexibility and willingness to relocate when necessary.
