Notes: The Unit Circle, Special Right Triangles, Ordered Pairs
Objective: To use special right triangles to deduce the ordered pairs for points on the unit circle.
For the Unit Circle:
1. Label each angle with its radian
measure.
2. Label each point on the unit circle
with its exact ordered pair. (See hint
below)
Hint:
Questions:
1) For Quadrant 1, which trig
functions are positive?
2) For Quadrant 2, which trig
functions are positive?
3) For Quadrant 3, which trig
functions are positive?
4) For Quadrant 4, which trig
functions are positive?
Assignment: Find the exact value of each trig function for the given angle. Reduce fractions and rationalize.
When the angle is greater than 360 or 2, find the coterminal angle that fits within one rotation of the circle.
