Psalm 139:19-24 The God Who I Live For
A PASSION FOR GOD’S ___________________
Overwhelmed by Almighty God’s constant love and ___________
for him, David is now incensed over those who have set
themselves against his beloved God.
These wicked men are violent and vile _____________________
who hate God, and thus David longs for God to wipe them out.
He wants to have nothing to do with them. He ___________ them
and counts them as his enemies. (Psalm 119:115; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18)
It is important to realize that David lived under the ___________
covenant. Things are different now that we are under the new
covenant in Christ. It is clear that we are to love our enemies and
pray for those who persecute us. (Hebrews 9:15, 12:24; Matthew 5:38-45;
Luke 6:27-28; 35; Romans 12:20-21)
However, we should ultimately long for the Lord to ___________
and ___________________ His enemies and set up His righteous
rule over all the earth. (Matthew 6:9-10; Daniel 2:44, 7:13-14; Psalm 2:8-12;
Revelation 6:9-11; 16:5-7; 19:15-16; 1 Corinthians 15:25)
A PASSION FOR GOD’S ____________ IN MY LIFE
Although David is filled with righteous ____________________
over the wicked, he is fully aware that he also is susceptible to sin.
Yet, for his good and God’s glory, he wants no part in it. Like
David, we should seek the Lord and pray as follows:
- For God to _______________ me and reveal what is going
on in my heart and mind. (Psalm 26:2; Jeremiah 17:9-10)
- For God to ____________ me, which means to test and
refine me. (Psalm 66:10; Isaiah 48:10)
- For God to expose and ______________ whatever evil might
reside within me. (Proverbs 17:3)
- For God to ____________ me in the everlasting way.
(Psalm 143:8-10; Colossians 2:6; John 14:6)
