Debate: Legalization of Marijuana
A number of movements to legalize the use of marijuana have been successfully presented in
recent months. There are places in the United States where marijuana is already legal for
medicinal purposes, and there are states that are proposing legislation to make recreational
marijuana legal. (As in the attached article)
You will have the class period today to establish valid arguments to support your position on
the legalization of marijuana. You may use technology devices to help find data to support
your argument. You will argue either for or against the following statement…
“Marijuana should be legalized in the United States”
You must record an ORGANIZED position on the legalization of marijuana. Your notes, which
should include: arguments, possible rebuttals, analysis of the issue, and evidence, will be
collected and graded.
Tuesday, we will engage in a scored discussion on the issue. EACH STUDENT will be
responsible for contributing to the debate in the form of an argument and/or a rebuttal.
