Washington Gas MD Bill Components
Sales Service
(Customer purchases their gas from WG):
CCF
The unit of measurement on your meter for the amount of natural
gas used. One CCF is equal to 100 cubic feet
Therm (TH)
A measure of the heat energy in natural gas. Because the heat
content of gas may fluctuate, your bill is always based on therms.
Your Total CCF of Gas Used, multiplied by the Conversion Factor,
equals the Total Therms Used on your bill.
2PSIG
Meters with 2PSIG metering pressure are also adjusted by a 1.1213
pressure factor when converting CCFs to Therms.
Distribution Service
Distribution Service is the transportation of natural gas through the
Washington Gas system to your meter, the cost of which is
recovered through the distribution charge and the system charge.
Distribution Service is a regulated service that must be purchased
from Washington Gas.
Distribution Charge
The Distribution Charge covers the cost of moving your gas
through the Washington Gas system to the meter. The monthly
Distribution Charge is based upon the amount of gas you use.
System Charge
Covers certain costs of providing your service - depreciation,
taxes, maintenance and repair of customer lines, and customerrelated expenses, such as meter reading and billing

(MD GRT Surcharge)
This is the cost of the natural gas commodity and the cost of
transporting it to the Washington Gas system.

A tax on the revenue received for the distribution of natural gas
that Washington Gas is required to pay to the State of Maryland.
