Detailed Description
Controls what goes in and out of the cell, made of phospholipids
Function in organizing microtubules in cell division, form basal
bodies.
thread-like strandsof DNA visible in non-dividing cells, indicates
"active DNA"
Rod-like structures that efficiently packages the cell's DNA before cell
division (humans have 46)
Liquid portion of the cell that contains water, dissolved substances,
and surrounds the organelles
Processes, packages, secretes proteins.
Digests food (intracellular digestion). Contain Hydrolytic Enzymes
Produces ATP Energy (cellular respiration occurs here). Uses
glucose and oxygen.
Double membrane that controls what goes in and out of the nucleus
Dark spot(s) in nucleus that are the site(s) of ribosome production
Controls all cellular activities, including reproduction, contains DNA
Site of Protein Synthesis
Produce fats (lipids), plus detoxiity (e.g. alcohol)
Protein synthesis occures here, send raw proteins to where they are
needed in cell
Large membrane-bound containers that store water, nutrients etc.
Small vacuoles, store nutrients etc.
SIMPLE Description of Function
YOUR INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Please label the diagram of the cell and colour in the parts.
2. Carefully read over the detailed functions of the parts.
3. In the last column, figure out what would be the best "SIMPLE
DESCRIPTION" for that part's function. Choose that simple description from
the list below.
4. Write in the simple description in the corresponding box and on the diagram.
5. Label "Y" on the diagram "Exocytosis" and Z "Endocytosis" and write a
definition for each.
