The united Nation and the European Union
1) Describe the structure of the United Nations.
After the league of nation (the organization before UN) failed to prevent the world war 2
and the humankind can’t take any more wars the united nation was founded to replace the league
of nation.
United nation is an organization aims to stop wars between countries and to make the
corporation with international law, international security, economic development, social
progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace more easy. It contains multiple
subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions. its Headquarters in New York City, with
further main offices at Geneva, Nairobi, and Vienna. The organization is financed from assessed
and voluntary contributions from its member states, and has six official languages: Arabic,
Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
The UN is Consisting of 193 member states, including every internationally recognized
sovereign state in the world but Vatican City. Ana has six principal organs: the General
Assembly, which I the main deliberative assembly, the Security Council, and it’s for deciding
certain resolutions for peace and security, the Economic and Social Council, which is for
assisting in promoting international economic and social cooperation and development, also
there’s the Secretariat for providing studies, information, and facilities needed by the UN, the
International Court of Justice and it’s the primary judicial organ, and the United Nations
Trusteeship Council which is currently inactive. the meetings held regularly throughout the year.
2) Do you think the UN is successful at preventing military conflict?
I don’t think that the UN succeed to prevent military conflict, yes a world war 3 didn’t
happened but a lot more wars did, and a lot of damages happened to different countries! I think
sometimes the united nation can’t do anything because the nations doesn’t want to help because

they fear of casualties. On other times there is no agreement can be done for example the war
between Iraq and Iran when the west supported Iraq and east supported Iran.
UN should work on preventing the wars more, because one of the main aims of the org. is the
human rights and letting people die everyday while they asking for help like what happing in
Syria means they are not doing what they suppose to do.
3) Describe the structure of the European Union. How does it differ from the UN?
The European Union is a unique economic and political union of 27 member states which
are located primarily in Europe. was formed by the inner six countries (Belgium, Austria, france,
Denmark, west Germany, Norway, Italy, Portugal, Luxemburg, Sweden, Netherlands,
Switzerland, united kingdom ).
The EU took its origins from the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the European
Economic Community (EEC). The Important institutions of the EU include the European
Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Council, the Court of Justice of
the European Union, and the European Central Bank. The European Parliament is elect every
five years by EU citizens.
The EU has developed a single market through a standardized system of laws which apply in all
member states. EU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services, and
capital, enact legislation in justice and home affairs, and maintain common policies on trade,
agriculture, fisheries and regional development.. They have uniformed their currency to euro in
1999 and is composed of 17 member states. The EU is represented at the United Nations, the
WTO, the G8 and the G-20.
For the UN any country can apply for a membership, but the EU, only European countries can
apply for it. Also they should meet the criteria that the EN put as they must be capitalist and must
not have the death penalty.
UN major goal is to stop the world conflict and military conflict between countries, while the
EU’s goal mainly for economic growth. Also other difference between the two is that UN is
armed while the EN is not.
