Ecology Learning Goals
 1. I can recall that matter and energy are needed to sustain life.
 2. I can recall that matter and energy are continuously recycled and can at
times be unbalanced.
 3. I can state the Law of Conservation of Energy.
 4. I can identify the parts of a food web.
 5. I can describe the different trophic levels and their properties.
 6. I can identify energy transformations and know the 10% rule.
 7. I can give the other names for autotrophs and heterotrophs.
 8. I can give the other names for producers and consumers.
 9. I can explain biomagnification.
 10. I can explain the cause and effect relationship with endangered species.
 11. I can describe how organisms and their environments are interconnected.
 12. I can explain that changes in one part of the system will affect other parts
of a system in the environment.
 13. I can state the different types of habitat destruction (deforestation,
wetlands, construction, and rainforests) and explain what is happening in each
situation.
 14. I can explain the result of disturbances in ecosystems. (in terms of
migration, adaptation, and extinction)
 15. I can explain that the greater biodiversity in an ecosystem is the reflection
of the health of an ecosystem.
 16. I can define abiotic and biotic factors and how they effect an environment.
 17. I can describe the different types of species interaction (Symbiosis,
Parasitism, Mutualism, and Commensalism)
 18. I can explain that Earth is of limited resources and that population increase
can stress ecosystems.
 19. I can explain that the amount of resources determines the Carrying
Capacity of an environment.
 20. I can describe ecological niche.
 21. I can identify limiting factors in an environment.
 22. I can identify exponential growth by looking at a graph or table.
 23. I can interpret population graphs and trends.
