ESSENTIAL UNIT 9 (E09)
(Europe 1920’s and 1930’s)
(JULY 2002)
Unit Statement:
In this unit the student will study Europe’s political, social, and economic problems
following World War I. Included in this study will be a close examination of the failure of
the Weimar Republic in Germany and the rise of Fascist power in Italy. The student will
also consider the causes of the Depression of the 1930’s, the Nazi rise to power in
Germany, and the role of women in Nazi Germany.
Essential Outcomes: (assessed for mastery)
1. The Student Will read, analyze, and evaluate historical data concerning the
economic, social, and political conditions which developed in Europe in the 1920’s
and 1930’s.
2. TSW describe and discuss the discontent with the Versailles Treaty.
3. TSW describe and analyze the economic, social, and political conditions that
developed in Europe after World War I.
4. TSW discuss and analyze the failure of the Weimar Republic in Germany.
5. TSW describe and discuss the rise of Fascist power in Italy following World War I.
6. TSW discuss, analyze, and evaluate the causes of the Depression of the 1930’s.
7. TSW describe, discuss, and analyze the rise of Nazi power in Germany.
8. TSW describe and discuss the role of women in Nazi Germany.
