After the test
You may resume your normal activities.
You may notice a sensation of stinging
and urgency when voiding. This is
normal.
March 2011
This test takes about 1 to 2 hours
from start to finish. Feel free to
bring a book or some activity
with you to pass the time.
It is important to drink 8 cups of water
within the next 24 hours to help
prevent a bladder infection. You
should call your doctor or have your
urine checked if the pain and burning
persists after 24 hours, if you are
voiding more frequently or if you
develop a fever.
The X-ray dye and the cleaning solution
needed for catheterizing are sticky, so
that it is likely you will wish to bathe on
your return home.
