SNC2D: Biology – Cells, Tissues and Living Systems
Name _____________
Microviewer Lab Activity
Make scientific drawings for 2 different cells. Choose one plant cell and one animal cell. The
drawing must be done to scale. Draw only one cell – do not draw multiple cells, even if they are
visible in the field of view. Use solid lines, no shading but stippling is encouraged. Be sure to
carefully record the magnification. Label at least 3 parts of your cell.
Guidelines for biological drawings
Criterion
Used sharp lead pencil
Title and required data recorded
At least 3 labels placed on right side
A ruler used to draw all label lines
No label lines cross
Stippling indicates darker areas, not shading
Magnification clearly recorded
Cells of Your Body (Set 10): Blood Cell (#2)
Magnification _______________
1. Which cells are larger and have nuclei?
2. Which types of blood cells are more abundant?
SNC2D: Biology – Cells, Tissues and Living Systems
Cells of Your Body (Set 10): Nerve Cell (#7)
Magnification _______________
1. What is one structural feature of a nerve cell that differs from a blood cell? How does this
structure relate to its function?
2. What is the main part of this cell called?
SNC2D: Biology – Cells, Tissues and Living Systems
Green Plants (Set 119): Leaf Cross-section (#2)
Magnification _______________
1. What is the name of the structure labelled “S”? What is the function of this part?
2. What is the organelle that is stained brown in this slide? What biological process occurs
in this organelle?

Green Plants (Set 119): Celery and Corn Slide (#2)
Magnification _______________
What is the main difference between celery and corn?
