Unit I Objectives: What is Genetics, Mendelian and nonMendelian crosses.
1. Define and use all terms from vocabulary quiz.
2. Describe how knowledge of genetics can help you be an informed and
responsible person.
3. List the order of levels of genetic study and levels of genetic material.
4. Describe how Mendelian traits vary from multifactorial traits.
5. List 5 applications where genetics has affected our lives.
6. Describe the beginning of genetics and Gregor Mendel.
7. Describe and define the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent
assortment.
8. Define and use the terms heterozygous, homozygous, first filial, second filial,
gametes, and lethal allele.
9. Perform these types of crosses on a Punnett square, identify the genotype and
phenotype of offspring and parents, determine ratios and percent of offspring.
