Curriculum and Pacing Guide
Math 1 Advanced
First four weeks of school-20 Days
An intensive review of number sense including the following:
 Basic Facts
Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division
 Fractions
 Decimals
 Percents
 Place Value
Extensions:
Destination Math:






Fractions Intro. +/Test: +/- Fractions
Multiply & Divide Fractions
Test: Mult./Div. Fractions
Intro to Percents
Test: Percents Review
These concepts should be taught through the use of real world applications with a
project that fits the needs of the local school community. A constructivist approach will
not only allow students to review these concepts, but will give them a buy in to the
process. For example, the use of rulers for fractions, area and perimeter for
multiplication, etc., not just drill and practice.
Resource materials from the 6th grade regular textbooks may be useful.
