Assignment: People and Peoples of Mesopotamia
We’ve already discussed in a fair amount of detail the Sumerians, Akkadians,
Babylonians, and Chaldeans. We’ve also briefly mentioned some of the major kings who
ruled over Mesopotamia, but not in a lot of detail.
Your task is to give a brief overview of one of the following kings or peoples of
Mesopotamia:
Kings
Sargon the Great
Naramasin
Ur-Nammu
Hammurabi
Ashurnasipal
Sargon II
Tiglath-pileser III
Senacherib
Esarhaddon
Ashurbanipal
Nebuchadnezzar
Peoples
Elamites
Kassites
Hittites
Amorites
Medes
This assignment should be presented in the form of a presentation (MS PowerPoint,
OpenOffice Impress, Google Docs, etc.), and should be done in groups of 2 or 3.
Your presentation doesn’t have to be very long (I’m thinking under 5 minutes for sure),
but you should cover the following elements
 Who (explain the person/people you’re talking about)
 Where (where they lived/ruled)
 When (the timeframe the ruled/existed)
 What (what were their major accomplishments)
 Why (why should we care who they are?)
 How (how they lived)
 Also be sure to include some visual elements (maps, pictures, illustrations)
Evaluation:
Thinking & Inquiry (18 marks)
- Project is well researched with accurate information
- Good detail, and answers all key questions
Communication (10 marks)
- Project is well presented (well organized slides, not too much text, clear speaking
and good eye contact without too much reading off notes)
- Good use of visuals
