Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Nucleic Acid,
Macromolecules: Large compounds that are made up of smaller units called
monomers.
1. Carbohydrates are used for energy.
Monosaccharides-single sugar molecules.
 Glucose
Polysaccharide- formed from monosaccharides.


Glycogen- animals store their energy in this form.
Starch- plants store their energy in this form.
2. Lipids- unused carbs turn into lipids. Stored energy.
3. Proteins- made up of amino acids. Vital for metabolism and function.
4. Nucleic Acid- made up of nucleotides.
Nucleotide: 5 Carbon sugar, Phosphate, Nitrogen base
