Bass-baritone
Nicolò Bartoli was born in Imperia, Italy, in 1982.
During his years at high-school he also studied various musical instruments: the guitar, the clarinet
and the piano.
As a child he sang in the children's choir "Coro delle Voci Bianche di S. Giovanni" of Imperia, and
in 1993 he participated in the children's Opera "La Teresina" by the late Maestro Roberto Hazon,
staged at the Cavour Theatre in Imperia and at the Casino Theatre of Sanremo- Italy.
At the age of 19 he was admitted to the "G.Verdi" Music Conservatory of Milan , where he gained
his singing Diploma under the guidance of M° Demetrio Colaci.
In 2004 he attended a master class on "Recitativo secco in Italian Opera repertoire" held by the
celebrated baritone Rolando Panerai.
During his studies in Milan he participated, as member of the choir, in several concerts with
M° Bruno Casoni who conducts La Scala Chorus, and in May 2005 was a soloist in a concert of
the Voci Bianche of La Scala in the Basilica of San Marco in Milan, again directed by M° Casoni.
In June 2006 he sang the roles of Don Bartolo and Antonio in Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro"
produced by the Milan Conservatory, under the baton of Laura Cosso, in the Sala Puccini, and in
July the same year he sang as soloist at a "Mozart Concert of Music and Poetry" with his sister
(also an opera singer) at the Arena del Parco Albanese in Mestre (Venice).
In 2007 he sang the role of Don Bartolo in the "Pocket Edition" of the Marriage of Figaro by the
Milan Conservatory in: the Sala Puccini in Milan, the Locarno Theatre in Switzerland and the
prestigious Sala Verdi of Milan Conservatory. The same year he participated as a soloist at a
Vivaldi concert with the "Female Orchestra G.Verdi" of Milan.
In 2009/2010 he participated, with the role of Masetto, in a Preparatory Course of Mozart's Don
Giovanni at "la Fondazione Santa Cecilia" in Portogruaro (Venice) under the guidance of the
famous baritone and orchestra conductor, Claudio Desderi.
Between 2010 and 2011 he was a member of the choirs "LaVerdi" and "La Verdi Barocca" (under
the baton of M° Jais and M° Capuano), performing J. S. Bach's "St John Passion" and G.F.Händel's
"Messiah"and cantatas.
In April 2011, at the Grand Hotel Dino of Baveno, he participated as choir member in the world
premiere reppresentation of the 'Airline Icarus' opera by Brian Current (winner of the 2011 Premio
Fedora).
In May 2011 he participated in a concert organized by the famous editor Arnoldo Mondadori,
consisting in film soundtracks by M° Ennio Morricone, in the presence of the composer himself.
At the end of the same month, he sang as soloist in the Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle conducted
by M° Giulio Magnanini of the Nice Opera Coir in the XX edition of “Imperia Lirica Giovane”.
He currently collaborates with the Coro dell'Accademia del Teatro alla Scala and to date, he has
participated in the opera "Rienzi, der Letzte der Tribunen" by R. Wagner (Théâtre du Capitole in
Tolouse) and in the opera "Barber of Seville" by G. Rossini ( Teatro Comunale of Reggio Emilia,
Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Kaliningrad Opera Theatre in Russia). He has also
participated in the "Petite Messe Solennelle" by G. Rossini (Palace of Arts -Müvészetek Palotája in
Budapest) under the baton of the Director of the Scala Theatre Choir, M° Bruno Casoni, with
Vincenzo Scalera and Marco De Gaspari at the piano, and Paolo Troian at the harmonium.
