Directions: When studying for the final study the pictures in your book, use
your flash cards, and ask yourself the questions located over the pictures.
Section 1: Human Body Orientation
1. How are organisms arranged? Start at the atomic level and end with
the organism.
2. Please list each of the 12 organ system and explain the function of
each.
3. Please list the necessities of life.
4. Please list our survival needs.
5. List all directional and regional terms with the meaning (ex: dorsal,
superior, etc..)
6. Please explain the planes of the body and draw pictures.
7. Draw picture and label all body cavities, including abdominal cavities.
Section 2: Chemistry and Cells
1. Define elements, atoms, ions, molecule, and compounds.
2. Explain the different chemical bonds and how they form.
3. Define pH and explain how your body maintains pH homeostasis.

Section 4: Skin and Body Membrane

4. Describe the difference between isotonic and isometric contractions.
5. Describe the difference between aerobic and resistance exercises.
6. Describe the types of body movements
7. Describe the types of muscles and how they work together.
8. Know the major muscles. Name the major diseases of the muscular
system.
Section 7: Nervous System
1. What are the major classifications of the nervous system?
2. What are the major types of nervous tissue, be sure the mention all cell
types and their function
3. What are the types of sensory receptors? What do they do?
4. Explain how a nerve impulse travels. Start with Ca+, be sure to have
K+, and Na+ in your description as well.
5. How does a reflex arc work? Describe all the steps.
6. Explain the difference between the sympathetic and parasympathetic
nervous system.
