Staff Screening & Immunisation Information Sheet
You must complete part 1 and 2 screening:
Clearance must be attended prior to employment
To meet the requirements on “ACT Health Staff Screening and Immunisation Policy”, it is
MANDATORY that all staff and students MUST provide evidence of protection against the
following infectious diseases:
 Hepatitis B (HBV): documented evidence of a completed course of Hepatitis B
vaccine, or documented evidence of immunity anti-HBs and HBsAg.
 Varicella: documented evidence of two doses of chicken pox vaccine or
documented evidence of positive varicella IgG.
 Measles, mumps and rubella: documented evidence of two doses of MMR or
documented evidence of positive IgG for measles, mumps & rubella.
 Diphtheria, Tetanus & Whooping cough: documented evidence of one dose
of “Boostrix” or “Adacel” vaccine.
 Tuberculosis (TB) screening clearance by the Department of Respiratory and
Sleep Medicine Unit in the Canberra Hospital.
Note:
Staff who perform “exposure prone procedures” must be aware of their status for the
following diseases by seeking serology testing on Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis b (HBV)
and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
1. Staff screening and immunisation clinic:
Occupational Medicine Unit (OMU) has a drop-in clinic and you may come at the
following times without an appointment.
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 0900 – 1200 and 1300 – 1430

2. TB screening clinic:
Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine have a drop-in clinic and you may
come at the following times without appointment.
Monday, Tuesday and Friday: 1200 – 1500
Location: Outpatient clinic, Building 1, level 2. Canberra Hospital
Telephone: 6244 2066
Note:
Tuberculin skin testing can not be attended if previous live vaccines have been
given in the last 4 weeks – i.e. MMR and chicken pox vaccine. Live vaccine can
interfere with TB reading.
