Getting More Specific
Scientists divide kingdoms into smaller groups
They use very specific characteristics to sort living
things in smaller groups.
GENUS- a group of closely related living things
First part in an organisms name
SPECIES- a group of similar organisms that can
mate and produce offspring
second part of scientific name
name often describes a characteristic, like color or
