Backgrounds of Western Literature, 1st Semester Instructor: 陳建志 Albert Chen Course description: Greco-Roman mythology and the Bible are the two essential origins of western culture. In the first semester we will focus on Greco-Roman mythology as well as Greek tragedies. And if time permits, more other classic works such as Plato and Greek comedies will be included. We will learn how they influenced western thinking and literary works. Students are encouraged to point out mythological allusions in literary works or films when doing presentations.
