They are: - The Reform Movement Project: Students either created a song parody or an infomercial about one of the reform movements of the 1800s (women’s suffrage, prohibition, prison reform, education reform). - Civil Rights Plaque: We created plaques about a person from the Civil Rights movement and these went up onto the Civil Rights Wall in Ms. Pierce’s classroom. - Geography quiz: We designed maps of Europe (with a key) that showed the two sides in World War I (Allies and Central powers) and then used those maps to take a geography quiz on Europe during the War. Students have learned the different steps in the writing process, including: brainstorming, drafting revising editing publishing Students have been taking notes on grammar rules and sentence structure by learning about complete and incomplete sentences. On reading days, the class has continued with reading workshop and has applied many new comprehension strategies to non-fiction texts. Officer Marden has continued his Friday GREAT curriculum with students to include lessons on communication and applications to peer pressure and gang activity. Self-assessment questions: 1.
