Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity, Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO 80523, 970/ 667-8448 PROJECT TITLE: Catalog 4500 Moth and Butterfly Specimens Collected at Colorado National Monument (Yr. 2 of 2) (Continuation of CSUCP-102) EFFECTIVE DATES: October 1, 2005 – June 30, 2008 PROJECT ABSTRACT: Approximately 4500 moth and butterfly (Lepidoptera) specimens were collected from Colorado National Monument in between 1995 and 2002 and are currently being housed at the C. P. Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity at Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado. These specimens were collected as part of a biodiversity survey conducted by international expert on Lepidoptera, Dr. Paul A. Opler. Funding for this project will be used to temporarily hire a work-study intern to work with Dr. Opler to identify, pin, label, catalog, and enter data into the National Automated Catalog System Plus (ANCS+), and create an annotated checklist of specimens found with the park.
