Photosynthesis Study Guide for Biology
1. What are the reactants of
Photosynthesis?

2. What are the products of
Photosynthesis?

3. Which cellular process takes
In energy from the sun
to make glucose?
4. What is glucose?
5. Where in the cell does
Photosynthesis happen?
____________________________________________________________________
6. What does a chloroplast look
Like?
7. What two structure s are in plant
Cells only!?
_______________________and___________________________
8. What gas is taken in during Photosynthesis?
_________________________________________________
9. What gas is released during Photosynthesis?
_________________________________________________
10. Use the space below to draw what photosynthesis looks like:
11. Does photosynthesis release or
Absorb energy?
It ___________________________________from the ______________________.
12. What 3 factors affect the rate of photosynthesis?
_______________________,__________________________, and _________________
13. Where does carbon dioxide Come from?
_______________________________
14. What organisms release Carbon dioxide?
___________________________________________
15. What organisms release Oxygen?
___________________________________________
Exercise your brain and think about the following questions. Write your response in the space provided. So long as your answers are thoughtful, you will
receive full credit. Write in complete sentences. Let your voice be heard! The above 15 questions will be used to design your quiz on cellular respiration.
Real life connection:
1. What do you think would happen if a plant ran out of water? Explain your answer.
2. Why do you think that leaves turn brown in the FALL? Why do they grow back in the spring?
3. How would you set up an experiment to test the effects of Carbon Dioxide on plant growth?
4. Will plants grow better with or without sunlight? Explain your answer
Marine environment connection:
Submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) plants are important to health of the Chesapeake Bay. These plants, including grasses, provide shelter and food to
many aquatic organisms. These plants can suffer from cloudy waters caused by high algae counts (you will learn more about algae as our class moves
ahead). How does “algal bloom” (high algae count) affect the health of these plants? In your response, be sure to include:
 Why are SAV plants important?
 What process is affected by cloudy waters?
 What important gases do these plants produce?
 What do SAV plants depend on for survival?
 Explain how a SECCHI disk (shown in diagram) is used to
measure light penetration.
 How does a high algae count effect the health of the SAV
plants?
