THE WEALTH GAP
The Gross National Product (GNP) is the value (in US Dollars) of a country’s final output of goods and
services in a year. It is calculated by adding up the amount of money spent on a country’s final output of
goods and services, or by totaling the income of all citizens’ of a country including the income from
factors of production used abroad. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) only includes income from goods and
services earned within a country. The Per Capita GNP is the total GNP/population. For a developed
nation the cut off for establishing developed nation status is $3,500.
