The WS then discussud possibilities for reasearch cooperartion within - Climate change - Acid rain - Agriculture The WS also discussed possibilities and problems regarding funding of Sino-Norwegian cooperative projects. Climate change Bente Wathne informed about a planned new WS on effects of Climate Change in China. The idea behind the WS is in particular to discuss problems caused by climate change in mountain areas in China, and further to establish contact with scientific groups in China working in the fiels of climate change. The WS the discussed possiblities for other topics to be included - Wetlands - Dry areas - Mountain areas - Agricultural areas - Global C-fluxes - Water shortage - Global change – environmental changes There was also a suggestion to invite people from international GWSP (Global water system panel) Agricultur Agriculture is a large and economically important area, and knowledge of climate effects on agriculture is also a question about security and safety. What is the links between agricultur and climate change? Effects from drought, flooding, extreme temepreatures, CO2 etc. Acid rain It was argumented that the problem of acid rain in China may be a bigger environmental problem in remote areas than we presently are awere of. We need data from headwater catchment and from first and second order streams in areas far from big cities and not influenced by direct human activities like agriculture to be able to map if there is any acidification from lon-range air pollution in more remote areas. Possible areas with acidification of surface waters is mountain areas in North.east China. Winds from west gives more and more attention to activities in Korea and China Possibilities of getting funding The WS discussed different possibilities to get funding to Sino-Norwegian cooprative projects. ROLF - kan du hjelpe meg litt her, vi kom vel egentliug ikke fram til noe som helst, men det kan vi jo ikke skrive. Kan du legge inn noen setninger her???? University people in Norway can participate in Chinese projects without any particular funding
