It includes an introduction to common abnormalities of the teeth and supporting structures, the oral symptoms of systemic diseases, and the principles of disease transmission. List and describe the three types of microorganisms that are of concern in the dental office. 2. Describe the forms of disease transmission in the dental office. 3. Discuss the major diseases of the teeth and surrounding tissues of the oral cavity. 4. Describe the oral manifestations and implications for dental treatment of oral cancer and secondary oral disorders. 5. Describe the oral manifestations and implications for dental treatment of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and Herpes. 6. Describe the symptoms, causes and treatment of temporomandibular disorders. 7. Describe the three types of oral cancers, state the warning signs and preventive measures and the dental implications of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. 8. Describe opportunistic infections associated with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) that have oral manifestations.
